Ashwini Vaishnaw is the Union Minister for Railways, Electronics & IT and one of Modi government's most capable technocrat-ministers. A 1994-batch IAS officer from Odisha cadre who worked as PPS to Prime Ministers Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh, he later did an MBA from Wharton and worked in private industry before entering politics. He is credited with accelerating railway modernization including Vande Bharat trains, Kavach safety system, and semiconductor manufacturing policy.
