About
Ashok Shankarrao Chavan served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2008 to 2010, succeeding Vilasrao Deshmukh in the aftermath of 26/11. Son of former Maharashtra CM S.B. Chavan, he oversaw the state's recovery and reconstruction after the Mumbai attacks. His tenure ended amid the Adarsh Housing Society scam — an expose of illegal allotments in a building meant for Kargil war widows. He resigned in November 2010. He subsequently joined the BJP in 2024.
