About
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was India's first BJP Prime Minister and the first non-Congress PM to serve a full five-year term. Representing Lucknow in Parliament for decades, he conducted the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in May 1998 and launched the Golden Quadrilateral highway network. He initiated the Lahore Bus Diplomacy with Pakistan and navigated the Kargil War in 1999. Known as a great orator and poet, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2015.
