About
Manmohan Singh was India's 13th Prime Minister (2004–2014) and the architect of the 1991 economic liberalisation as Finance Minister under P.V. Narasimha Rao. Under his PM tenure, India achieved its highest-ever growth rates (8–9% GDP), the landmark Indo-US nuclear deal was signed, and MGNREGA and RTI were enacted. A Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, he was the first Sikh PM of India and the first PM since Nehru to serve two consecutive terms. He passed away on 26 December 2024.
