About
Rabri Devi was Chief Minister of Bihar across three terms from 1997 to 2005, becoming one of India's most prominent women CMs. Wife of Laloo Prasad Yadav, she was appointed CM when Laloo was forced to resign after being convicted in the Fodder Scam. Her tenure — characterised by critics as rule by proxy — oversaw a period of lawlessness and economic underdevelopment in Bihar. She remains a member of the Bihar Legislative Council and the de facto Yadav family matriarch in Bihar politics, with her son Tejashwi Yadav now leading the RJD.
