About

Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna served as Chief Minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004, presiding over the IT boom in Bengaluru that transformed it into India's technology capital. A former Union Minister and Governor of Maharashtra, he later served as External Affairs Minister under PM Manmohan Singh (2009–2012). He left Congress in 2017 to join BJP. He passed away on 10 December 2024.
