About
Sheila Dikshit was Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 consecutive years (1998–2013) — the longest serving CM of the capital territory. Under her tenure Delhi underwent its most dramatic transformation: the Metro Rail network was built, CNG was mandated for all public transport (making Delhi's air cleaner), and massive infrastructure was added ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. A three-time consecutive CM who won elections in 1998, 2003, and 2008, she was defeated by the AAP wave in 2013. She passed away on 20 July 2019.
