About
Zakir Husain was India's third President and the first Muslim to hold the office. He was a renowned educationist and co-founder of Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi. Born in Hyderabad, he served as Governor of Bihar and Vice President before becoming President in 1967. He died in office on 3 May 1969, the first Indian President to do so. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1963.
